Providing Everything You Need

Port of Algoma

The Port of Sault Ste. Marie is projected to create 2,400 new jobs in the Sault. It will become a new cornerstone of our community and could stand alongside Algoma Steel and the hospital as one of our top employers. It will also create an economic ecosystem where secondary and tertiary businesses can grow and thrive. If re-elected, I will support this critical infrastructure investment.

Stopping Public Drug Use

Our parks, playgrounds, sidewalks, downtown and public spaces should be safe and welcoming for everyone. We need a stronger approach to open drug use in public spaces. Residents should not have to walk around drug use, discarded needles or unsafe behaviour in their neighbourhoods.

Vancouver is exploring a ticketing system similar to existing public-smoking/health bylaws, where officers can intervene in public spaces. This could include directing people to stop or move along, with stronger enforcement tools (fines and confiscation). The Soo needs a similar approach because what we are doing right now is not working.

A clear message must be sent that Saultites are tired of not feeling safe walking the city streets and we will not tolerate that anymore.

Roads and Infrastructure

This is an area where I feel our Council has let you down. In 4 years we never once increased the resurfacing budget. This must change! Approximately $12.5 million in annual investment over the next 10 years ($125 Million Total) to address preventative maintenance, resurfacing, and reconstruction needs. Just to bring up the city’s average road score from “Poor” to “Fair”. Yet we are currently investing $3.8 million per year, less than third of what is needed.

Priorities of Council need to change with roads and infrastructure being at the top of the list.

Hub-Trail

Already hearing loud and clear that you want Hub-trail Expansion over additional Bike Lane.

We need to continue investing to connect more neighbourhoods, improve access to recreational spaces, and provide residents with safe and accessible opportunities to walk, run, and cycle.

Data Centres

We Are Saultites, Not Luddites!

Data Centre development must be thoughtful, responsible, and sustainable. We welcome innovation and the opportunities of the future.

We want investment, jobs, and economic growth while protecting our infrastructure, environment, and quality of life.

Windrow Removal

Coming to Budget 2027 after this election.

Council will vote "Yes" or "No" for windrow removal following ice and snowpack cutting.

I supported to keep the original program.
